Award-Winning Edina Home Remodeler
Edina traces its name to the linen-milling town of Edina, Scotland, and its housing story runs through two very different eras that still define the city today. The Country Club District, platted in 1924 by Thorpe Brothers Realty, was one of the first planned communities in Minnesota, and its roughly 550 Tudor and colonial revival homes built between 1924 and 1941 earned the neighborhood a spot on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. A few miles north, Morningside was platted in 1905 along the Grimes family’s old apple orchard, grew up with the 44th Street streetcar line through the 1930s, and filled in further with bungalows and ramblers through the 1950s before rejoining Edina in 1966. Boyer Building Corporation is an Edina remodeler experienced across both the city’s 1920s and 1930s architecture and its mid-century additions.
Edina Home Remodeling Experts
Edina’s older neighborhoods rarely fit a single mold. A Country Club District Tudor from 1928 has different bones, room proportions, and historic-district expectations than a 1950s Morningside rambler two miles away, and a remodeler needs to read both correctly before the first wall comes down. We’ve learned which decades of Edina construction call for updated electrical and plumbing before cosmetic work starts, how to work respectfully within the character of the Country Club Historic District, and where later additions have already reshaped a home’s original footprint. That knowledge keeps Edina projects accurate to the house, not just the plan.

Boyer Building Corporation Remodeling Services
Edina’s homes range from 1920s Tudors to 1950s ramblers, and each era calls for its own remodeling approach.
Kitchen Remodeling – Many Edina kitchens, especially in the Country Club District, are original to homes built in the 1920s and 1930s, with a floor plan that never anticipated modern appliances. We rebuild these into functional, well-proportioned kitchens that respect the home’s original character.
Bathroom Remodeling – Bathrooms in the area’s older homes are often small and dated, having seen only minor updates since original construction. We rework these into current, comfortable spaces sized appropriately for the home.
Decks, Porches, and Three-Season Spaces – Edina’s mature, tree-lined lots in neighborhoods like Country Club and Morningside are well suited to porches, patios, and decks that fit the scale and character of an established streetscape.
Great Rooms and Main-Level Renovations – Many 1920s and 1930s homes were built with formal, separated living and dining rooms. Opening these into a more connected living space is one of the most requested renovations we take on in the city.
Lower Level Finishing – Lower levels in older homes are frequently unfinished or finished decades ago with dated materials. We rebuild these into functional living space suited to today’s family.
Exterior Renovation – Exterior remodels are where homes can change identity completely. We coordinate siding, windows, doors, roofing, and trim as one design decision rather than a series of separate projects. The result is an exterior that is truly cohesive.
Home Office – A spare bedroom or underused sunroom in an Edina home is a common candidate for conversion into a dedicated home office.
Bedroom and Primary Suite – Primary suites in Edina’s older homes are often modest by today’s standards. We reconfigure these into well-composed, efficient suites that fit within the home’s existing footprint.
Specialties – We work with homeowners to reimagine their home with tasteful entrances, stairways, mudrooms, and game rooms. We not only add to their homes’ beauty but also to their utility with thoughtful design and construction.

Remodeling FAQs
All new construction and remodeling work comes with a written warranty that meets or exceeds Minnesota statutory requirements: one year on workmanship and materials, two years on plumbing, electrical, and HVAC, and ten years on major structural elements. Beyond the warranty, our team responds to questions and small follow-up items for years after a project closes — that’s part of how referrals get earned.
Recent recognition includes 2025 NARI-MN Remodeler of the Year Gold and Silver awards, the 2025 Housing First ROMA awards, Lake Minnetonka Magazine’s 2024 and 2025 “Best Of” recognition in both the Remodeler and Builder categories, and multiple NARI-MN Contractor of the Year wins going back through 2023. Awards aren’t the reason to hire a builder, but they’re a useful signal that the work meets a professional standard reviewed by peers.
Yes. Boyer Building is a licensed and insured Edina remodeler and builder, and is familiar with Edina’s permitting requirements and inspection process.
Most projects move through five stages: an initial consultation to understand your goals and constraints; a design and budget development phase where the project takes shape on paper; a detailed proposal and contract; construction with a dedicated project manager and lead carpenter; and a final walkthrough plus warranty service. You work with the same core team from start to finish.
The simplest first step is to call our office at 952-475-2097 or send a message through the contact form. We’ll set up an introductory conversation, ask about your home and what you’re hoping to accomplish, and walk through next steps from there.
Yes. Boyer manages the permitting and inspection process with the Edina building department as part of every project scope.
The first conversation — in your home or at our office — is at no cost. Once we move into detailed design work, there’s a design fee that’s clearly outlined upfront. That fee covers the time of our designers and is credited against the project if you move forward into construction.
Not necessarily. Boyer is a design-build firm, which means our in-house design team can take a project from initial concept through construction documents. For projects with unusual structural complexity or historic considerations, we’ll bring in an outside architect when it serves the project. Either way, you have one team accountable for the result.
Yes. We’re glad to share our project portfolio for every community that we serve. Our blog and the project gallery on this site page include completed work throughout the Twin Cities Western Suburbs.
