This Lake Minnetonka remodel is a true full-circle story. Our homeowner grew up next door to this charming 1960s Midcentury Modern home, originally owned by her uncle. When the property came on the market years later, she and her husband seized the opportunity to return to the lake she loved—and entrusted Boyer Building to thoughtfully transform the home for their family.
The goal of this whole-home renovation was to honor the home’s character while updating it for modern lake living. On the main floor, Boyer removed tall dividing walls that once separated the kitchen, dining, and sitting areas, creating an open layout that maximizes natural light and uninterrupted lake views. Special attention was also given to lighting placement and design, ensuring ample task lighting throughout—especially important with the home’s high, vaulted ceilings.
The remodeled kitchen now features improved flow, a hidden pantry, and seamless connection to the living spaces—perfect for gathering and entertaining. A luxurious main-floor primary suite was added, complete with a spacious bathroom and walk-in closet. To accommodate this new layout, the powder bathroom was thoughtfully relocated, allowing the primary suite to expand while improving overall function. A dedicated home office was also incorporated to support today’s work-from-home lifestyle.
Outdoor living was enhanced with a new deck designed to capture panoramic Lake Minnetonka views, creating an ideal space for relaxing and hosting after long days on the water.
The lower level remodel focused on comfort and recreation. Updates included a refreshed kitchenette for easy post-boating meals, a new exercise room, remodeled bedrooms, and an updated guest bathroom. One beloved original feature—the retro sauna—was carefully preserved as a nod to the home’s history.
