Award-Winning Medina Home Remodeling
Medina was first settled in 1855 and was originally named Hamburg Township before residents voted in 1858 to rename it Medina, after the Arabian holy city. For most of its history Medina was a rural farming community, and it did not begin urbanizing with paved roads and suburban development until the 1970s. Today Medina covers 27 square miles with fewer than 7,000 residents, a low density that has preserved large-lot estates and working farmland alike, supported by a highway bypass that kept commercial strip development to a minimum. Many homes were added after 2000, ranging from large custom estates to ramblers and traditional two-story homes, often on large lots that offer real privacy. The historic Hamel community within Medina anchors an established residential area with deep roots. Boyer Building Corporation is a Medina remodeler and custom builder experienced with this large-lot, low-density housing stock.
Medina Home Remodeling Experts
Medina’s large lots and rural-residential zoning change the remodeling conversation compared to denser inner-ring suburbs. A remodeler who works in Medina regularly learns how well and septic systems factor into additions and lower-level finishes on many properties, how the historic Hamel area differs from newer large-lot estate construction, and how the city’s commitment to agricultural retention shapes what an addition or new accessory structure can look like. That experience keeps Medina projects, from a Hamel-area remodel to a large custom estate addition, on track from design through completion.

Boyer Building Corporation Remodeling Services
Medina’s large-lot estates and rural-residential character call for whole-property thinking on nearly every project.
Kitchen Remodeling – Medina’s estate kitchens are often generously sized, and we rebuild these into true gathering kitchens suited to entertaining, while Hamel-area homes call for a more traditional kitchen update within an existing footprint.
Bathroom Remodeling – Primary bathrooms in larger homes typically have the square footage for full spa-style renovations with stone and custom millwork.
Decks, Porches, and Three-Season Spaces – Large, rural-feeling lots support ambitious outdoor living: decks, patios, outdoor kitchens, and pole barns or outbuildings sized to the property.
Great Rooms and Main-Level Renovations – Many older homes, particularly in Hamel, were built with separated, single-purpose rooms. Opening these into a great room is a common renovation, done carefully to preserve the home’s character.
Lower Level Finishing – Medina’s estate lots frequently support expansive lower levels finished as true living space: entertainment rooms, home gyms, and guest suites.
Exterior Renovation – Exterior remodels are where homes can change identity completely. We coordinate siding, windows, doors, roofing, and trim as one design decision rather than a series of separate projects. The result is an exterior that is truly cohesive.
Home Office – Medina’s larger homes often have room for a dedicated home office, or dual offices for two-professional households, with custom millwork and acoustic treatment.
Bedroom and Primary Suite – Primary suites in larger estate homes have the space to become true retreats, with room for an expanded closet and a rebuilt bath.
Specialties – We work with homeowners to reimagine their home with tasteful entrances, stairways, mudrooms, and game rooms. We not only add to their homes’ beauty but also to their utility with thoughtful design and construction.

Remodeling FAQs
All new construction and remodeling work comes with a written warranty that meets or exceeds Minnesota statutory requirements: one year on workmanship and materials, two years on plumbing, electrical, and HVAC, and ten years on major structural elements. Beyond the warranty, our team responds to questions and small follow-up items for years after a project closes — that’s part of how referrals get earned.
Recent recognition includes 2025 NARI-MN Remodeler of the Year Gold and Silver awards, the 2025 Housing First ROMA awards, Lake Minnetonka Magazine’s 2024 and 2025 “Best Of” recognition in both the Remodeler and Builder categories, and multiple NARI-MN Contractor of the Year wins going back through 2023. Awards aren’t the reason to hire a builder, but they’re a useful signal that the work meets a professional standard reviewed by peers.
Yes. Boyer Building is a licensed and insured Medina remodeler and builder, and is familiar with Medina’s permitting requirements and inspection process.
Most projects move through five stages: an initial consultation to understand your goals and constraints; a design and budget development phase where the project takes shape on paper; a detailed proposal and contract; construction with a dedicated project manager and lead carpenter; and a final walkthrough plus warranty service. You work with the same core team from start to finish.
The simplest first step is to call our office at 952-475-2097 or send a message through the contact form. We’ll set up an introductory conversation, ask about your home and what you’re hoping to accomplish, and walk through next steps from there.
Yes. Boyer manages the permitting and inspection process with the Medina building department as part of every project scope.
The first conversation — in your home or at our office — is at no cost. Once we move into detailed design work, there’s a design fee that’s clearly outlined upfront. That fee covers the time of our designers and is credited against the project if you move forward into construction.
Not necessarily. Boyer is a design-build firm, which means our in-house design team can take a project from initial concept through construction documents. For projects with unusual structural complexity or historic considerations, we’ll bring in an outside architect when it serves the project. Either way, you have one team accountable for the result.
Yes. We’re glad to share our project portfolio for every community that we serve. Our blog and the project gallery on this site page include completed work throughout the Twin Cities Western Suburbs.
